The year- to-date rain total is 15.86 inches, two inches less than the average to date. The high tem perature for the month was 81 degrees recorded March 3, and the low was 26 degrees recorded on March 11 and again March 15. A number of people have told us they are enjoying the Come See Us...Guide and we're glad. One good friend said she wished we had included a cal endar of events. Well, we told her, it’s in there. Perhaps you hadn't read that far either, so we want to be sure you know that all the area clubs and organizations gave us a list of those events they have already scheduled. With that list we put together a Come See Us.. Guide calendar of events for 1992. Use it wisely. Also included is an index to advertisers, by category, on the last two pages of the Guide.. C. 28782 Special Easter Program At First A sermon series and special services are a part of Tryon First Baptist Church's Easter season. Sermons for the next few Sundays are: Pilate, Who Condemned Him," "Mary, Who Loved Him," and "Thomas, Who Con fessed Him." On Thursday evening, April 16, at 7:30, A Living Lord's Supper Service will be con ducted under the direction of the Rev. Mary Potter. A tableau will recreate Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper, using 13 costumed men, special lighting effects, narration, and music. The men portraying Jesus and the Twelve will "freeze" in place at a certain point in the service, the sanctuary will be darkened while the tableau is spotlighted and the Lord's Sup per will be observed quietly and reverently. Worshipers will leave the service in silence at its conclusion. Easter Sunday an early service will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. in the Portia Farwell Garden of the Tryon Fine Arts Center by the Rev. Wil Potter. A breakfast will follow in the Church Fel lowship Hall. Sunday School will begin at 10 a.m. and Easter Morning Worship at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend and cordially welcomed. -Community Reporter Read The Bulletin For Local News THURSDAY, APRIL 2,1992 The Meadowmount Trio To Perform April 7 Tryon Concert Association members have a wonderful treat in store for them on April 7, 1992 when the Meadowmount Trio appears in concert. This is a "bonus" concert pre sented to members in apprecia tion of the fine support given to the Tryon Concert Association when the first scheduled concert of the season had to be changed. The Meadowmount Trio is comprised of Stephen Shipps, violinist; Owen Carman, viol oncello; and Eric Larsen, pia nist. Mr. Shipps has made many solo appearances with major orchestras and in addition has served as concertmaster of the Dallas Civic Opera and the Piedmont Chamber Orchestra. He has also conducted throughout Europe in Berlin, Frankfurt, Florence and Spoleto, and is currently on the faculty of University of Michi gan and the Meadowmount (Continued On Back Page) 16 Pages Today 20« Per Copy Green Creek Festival Of Flight April 11 The first annual Festival of Flight will be held April 11th from 10-2 on the grounds of the Green Creek Elementary School on Coxe Rd. This festival will celebrate flight in many forms and be an opportunity for the young-at- heart to fly kites and participate in model airplane and kite building workshops in the gymnasium. Kite enthusiast Rick Watson of the Green Creek community will demonstrate kite building techniques. John Trent of the Spartanburg Fly Knights, an AMA club, will lead a work shop on constructing a model airplane called the Delta Dart. Tryon art teacher Becky Lewis will offer instruction in paper airplane construction. Everyone is encouraged to bring ready-made kites of all kinds to fly on the spacious grounds of the school. The celebration is free and open to the public. The Boy Scouts of Troop 128 will be selling hot dogs and area churches will have cakes and cookies for desert. The festival will be held rain or shine. Entertainment will be provided by Phil and Gaye Johnson, Claude and Elaine Graves and other area musicians. The Festival of Flight is being sponsored by the Green Creek Community Organization which is spearheading an effort to convert the Green Creek Ele- (Continued On Back Page)
